Building G2 was Symantec’s pilot open work place project. Transitioning from enclosed offices and high large cubicles into an open workbench solution required a strategically implemented change management process. The FOLIO team conducted vision sessions with User groups to develop design concepts. Workshops were instrumental in promoting acceptance of the open workplace concept within business teams. The Floor space was divided into smaller, scalable communities in the concept of ‘Neighborhoods’ within the larger context of a ‘Town’, providing a sense of scale and belonging to the people. Each neighborhood had its own ‘marketplace’ – essential services in close proximity. A central community space ‘The Town Center’ provided a central gathering space to foster interaction & collaboration. The project was a huge success, with the occupants embracing the change and delighted to be active participants of this new collaborative work environment.
